Thanksgiving in CO

This Thanksgiving we headed up to CO to spend the holiday with my side of the family. It was such a fun trip! The weather was awesome, the food was divine (hence the few pounds that have taken residency on my hips), the company was superb and seeing Elsie play with her cousins made it all worth it!!
We made sure that we had lots to do so that we weren't sitting around in the house all day and with the terrific weather we were able to play outside and go to the park all the time. We also made a trip to a candy factory to see how candy canes and other sugary delights are made. We went to an indoor bounce place and Elsie didn't care too much for the actual blowup houses or slides but just enjoyed having space to run around in. We watched our fill of Glee, Dancing With The Stars, Star Trek, Angels and Demons (don't rent the unrated version, which we did by accident. Holy Gorey!) The girls all went out and left the boys to stay home with the kiddos and saw New Moon. It was just as good the second time and fun to see with my sisters and my mom (who was so kind to keep the snide remarks and noises to herself). Oh and of course playing games til the wee hours of the night or was it the morning?
Thanksgiving night we headed over to our church building and had a dessert buffet and let the kids run around in the cultural hall. We played a mean game of musical chairs and learned that some of us play really dirty (I won't mention names but her name in spanish would be Jaime). And of course searching for little rubber duckies throughout the foyers and hallways was really so much fun (the un-named Jaime redeemed herself with that game).
When we got home, Elsie and I didn't know what to do with ourselves without having cousins to entertain her.
I love getting together with my family and the ease and love that I feel when we are all in the same place. I wish that it could happen more than just once or twice a year, but we will take whatever we can and continue to make the most of the time we do spend together!
